A short CV of my knowledge of dogs & judging experience

My love of dogs goes back to my childhood as my parents had Cocker Spaniels as pets and I was allowed my own when I was a teenager. However, it was not until we were married with a family that we acquired our first Golden Retriever in 1970. I began showing our first bitch and from her descend all our “Arbutus” Golden Retrievers. In this breed I have owned/bred 3 Champions at home, 2 Champions in Sweden and 1 in South Africa as well as many with CCs both in the UK and overseas. I have judged this breed at Championship Show level since 1985, many times in the UK and judged them at Crufts in 2009 – with an entry of over 300 dogs. I have also judged Golden Retrievers at Championship shows in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Austria, Slovinia, Italy, Russia and Australia. I have also judged Gundog groups, Utility Groups and Best in Show at Open Shows

In 1978 our daughter, Helen, decided to have her own show dog, a Tibetan Spaniel, affix “Calamalca”  so we have been associated with that breed for over 30 years. I have shown her dogs for her to Championship Show level and also been involved in their breeding. I have judged TS many times at Open Show level in the UK and this year have my first Championship Show appointment. I have also judged TS in Sweden at Open Shows in 1995 and 1999.

I am very much looking forward to judging at your Championship Show in May.
